Review: Death & Maia by A.C. Jolly

“...And then–then–she laughs. It wouldn’t be much of one from any other person on earth, nothing more than a smile with wind. But it’s like she’s never done it before, ever, and her face changes aspect, or the light shining on it changes colour.” (p. 35) ★★★★★ 🌶🌶🌶 Review: An all-consuming sapphic romance Death has come for Maia, but Maia’s final request ignites a burning longing in Death, rendering her enthralled. I am left speechless. Death & Maia is a poetic and deliciously emotional sapphic fantasy written as Maia’s stream of consciousness. Its intensity is absorbing, making it feel like a full sensory experience. I cannot remember the last time a book transformed me so powerfully. These are pages you will want to savor. I was searching for an evocative sapphic romance, and it found me. I am so thankful to the author for mailing me a gifted copy from across the Atlantic. About Me

An avid reader and aspiring author, I love getting lost in worlds intricately created word by word. I am fortunate enough to work from home on my own schedule, allowing me to devote much of my spare time to my passion for literature. I am an editor, and I currently review here on my personal blog, as well as on Instagram, Threads, Facebook, Goodreads, Storygraph, BookBub, Amazon, Edelweiss+, Pinterest, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn. When applicable, I also review on retailer sites such as Barnes and Noble. I will happily review on other forums if requested.

My published editorial reviews are available on Readers' Favorite, Reedsy Discovery, and Online Book Club. I also review on Netgalley, Library Thing, Book Sirens, Booksprout, Hidden Gems, AuthorsXP, Reading Deals, and Voracious Readers Only.

A little about me, personally...

I was raised in San Diego, CA, where I lived for the first 30 years of my life. I joined the Army Reserves at the age of 25 as a medic.  I am still enlisted, though I am now living in the Midwest with my husband, who is an active duty Blackhawk pilot, and my two toddlers. I hold a Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminal Psychology. I graduated summa cum laude and concurrently completed a minor in History. My hobbies include reading (of course), bullet journaling, brush lettering and calligraphy, piano, cooking, diamond painting, traveling, camping, hiking, exercise, and cuddling my four adorable cats.
